What Shrike keeps, and what leaves your iPhone.
Almost nothing leaves it. Shrike has no account and no server. All Dorhawk Software receives is a crash report when Shrike breaks and, only if you say yes, anonymous counts of which parts of Shrike get used. Neither is about you or how you use your phone.

- No app namesiOS keeps them from Shrike
On your iPhone
Everything Shrike needs to work stays here, in its own storage, which other apps can't read.
- Your apps
- The apps and websites you choose, held as Apple's sealed tokens. iOS never tells Shrike which app or site a token is; names only appear on screens iOS itself draws, like the block screen and the week's chart.
- Your rules
- Each app's limit and its place on the ladder, Never limit, focus hours, quiet hours, check-ins and the goals you write.
- Your days
- Which limits were reached, walk-aways, clean days, your bird's level, and a short log of what Shrike did and when.
- Parent passcode
- On a child's iPhone, the passcode that guards Shrike's settings, kept in the iPhone's Keychain.
Delete Shrike and all of it goes with it.
In iCloud, only with a flock
A flock is a few friends who see each other's progress. If you never start or join one, nothing goes to iCloud.
- Your card
- The name you choose, your count of clean days, which of the last two weeks' days were clean, whether today is clean so far, today's walk-aways, and your tight week if you're on one.
- Cheers
- Each emoji you send, to whom, and when. They're shown for a week.
- Where
- In the founder's iCloud, shared with Apple's CloudKit sharing. Anyone with the flock's invite link can join and see the cards in it. Dorhawk Software can't read them.
- How long
- Until you leave: leaving deletes your card. When the founder leaves, the whole flock is deleted.
Which apps you limit, their names and how long you spend in them never go into a flock.
With Apple
- Purchases
- Apple takes the payment. Shrike only learns which plan you have and when it renews or ends. The Family plan is shared through Apple's Family Sharing.
- Screen Time
- Shrike works through Apple's Screen Time, which counts the minutes on your iPhone and closes apps when Shrike asks. Apple's own privacy policy covers it.
- Notifications
- Scheduled on your iPhone by Shrike itself. Flock updates arrive as silent iCloud notifications.
When Shrike crashes
A report goes to Sentry, the service we use to find and fix crashes. You can switch it off in Settings › Privacy › Crash reports.
- What's in it
- Where in Shrike's code it broke and the steps Shrike took just before, Shrike's version, the iPhone model and iOS version, language, time zone, and the phone's state at the time, like free memory. For a fifth of launches and screens, also how long they took to appear.
- What isn't
- Your name or any ID that singles out you or your iPhone, screenshots, which apps you limit or use and for how long, and anything about your flock. Sentry is set not to keep the IP address a report comes from.
- Where
- Sentry's EU region, in Frankfurt, Germany.
- How long
- Deleted after 90 days at the latest.
If you share usage
From its second day, Shrike asks once whether it may count which of its parts get used. Nothing is sent unless you say yes, and you can change your mind any time in Settings › Privacy › Share usage. A child's iPhone is never asked and never sends it.
- What's in it
- That Shrike was opened and for how long, and when you start a focus round, start or join a tight week, start or join a flock, see the membership page or buy a plan. With each: Shrike's version, the iPhone model and screen size, iOS version, language, region, accessibility settings like text size, the hour and day, and a random ID for this installation, scrambled on your iPhone and again by TelemetryDeck so it can't be traced back to you.
- What isn't
- Which apps you limit or use, when or for how long, your limits, clean days or log, anything about your flock, and your name or Apple Account. TelemetryDeck never stores IP addresses.
- Where
- TelemetryDeck's servers in Germany and the Netherlands.
- How long
- Three months, then deleted.
Only if you send it
- Bug reports
- Share diagnostics, in Settings › Help, puts your rules, the log and Screen Time's schedules into a text for a bug report. It has no app names in it, and it goes only where you choose to send it.
- If you write to us, we keep your email to answer it, and for nothing else.
Children
On a child's iPhone, Shrike never asks to share usage and never sends it. Crash reports work as described above, and a parent can switch them off in Shrike's settings, which are behind the parent's passcode.

Why, on what grounds, and for how long
- Flocks
- Your card and cheers, so friends can see each other's progress. Grounds: you asked for it by starting or joining a flock (performing our contract with you). How long: until you leave, or the founder ends the flock.
- Purchases
- Which plan you have and until when, so the limits work for members. Grounds: our contract with you. How long: as long as Shrike is on your iPhone; Apple keeps its own purchase records.
- Crash reports
- What broke in Shrike's code, to fix it. Grounds: our legitimate interest in an app that works; you can object by switching them off. How long: 90 days at the latest.
- Usage
- Counts of which parts of Shrike get used, to decide what to improve. Grounds: your consent, which you give by saying yes and can withdraw any time in Settings; withdrawing doesn't affect what was sent before. How long: three months.
- Your emails
- Your address and what you write, to answer you. Grounds: our legitimate interest in answering. How long: until the matter is settled, and no longer than two years after the last message.
- This website
- The address each request comes from, to deliver and protect the site. Grounds: our legitimate interest in running it safely. How long: as long as Cloudflare's own rules allow.
What stays on your iPhone never reaches us, so we can't see, share or lose it. Shrike sells nothing, shows no ads, and makes no automated decisions about you.

Your rights
You can ask us what we hold about you and get a copy, have it corrected or deleted, limit how it's used, object to anything we do on legitimate interest, and take your data elsewhere. Most of it is in your hands already: leaving a flock deletes your card, and deleting Shrike deletes the rest. For anything else, write to ondrej@dorhawk.software; we answer within a month.
You can also complain to the Czech data protection authority: Úřad pro ochranu osobních údajů, Pplk. Sochora 27, 170 00 Praha 7, uoou.gov.cz.
Changes
If Shrike starts handling data differently, this page changes first and the date below with it. Anything that needs your consent will ask for it in the app first.
